The nervous system likes to try to be the great protector. If it is unsure about something, it’s going to tell you not to do it. . Sometimes, all you need to do is ease that nervous system into “remembering” something is okay to do. . Hurts going to a certain position in your range of motion? Play around with spending a lot of time going just “short” of that range, and then gradually coax your nervous system into realizing that it’s okay to go there. . For example, a squat - can’t hit what your full depth SHOULD be? Spend a lot of timing grooving and loading that depth just above where it is painful, and then use some long holds and some slow tempo work to teach that nervous system to like that deeper range again. . Never force it - use breath, use tempo, use pauses to work back into it - don’t just send it in the hopes that it will feel better if you keep working into the pain. . Gradually give the nervous system more and more “permission” to go into positions, and it will start to listen to you! . Questions/comments? Hit me up! .
