Rogers Folly (or tower)! A folly is apparently a building built with no purpose, although when you see the view from its location, you can certainly see why it was built here. It’s thought it was built in 1798 by the Rogers family, hence the name. It’s difficult to get to, you have to look out for a public footpath near a lay-by on the B3311 and what looks like a short walk turns out to be a proper yomp along bridal paths that navigate around a restricted quarry (wear good walking footwear). It can be disheartening at times as you can see it but the paths seem take you away from it, but persist and you will succeed. As you approach it looks huge as it was designed to make the hill look bigger but when you get there it’s actually quite modest in size, but nevertheless very pretty. Have fun looking for this one.
