💥 Sandbag to shoulder 💥 Amazing exercise to develop strength and explosive power! You're getting the benifits of deadlifting an odd object off the floor and once you've got the sandbag on your lap, you have to explode using hip extension to get it up to shoulder. Great one for grapplers or any combat sports athletes. 🥋🥊💪 ✔️ I usually program this exercise in with a lower body workout, keeping the reps at 3-5 for 3 sets. I like to do these in the middle of the workout, straight after the main lifts. I find that I'm too fatigued if I do them at the end. How to get better at pull ups 💪 (Progressions to your first pull up) . 1️⃣ The overhand pull ups - this is what we are trying to work towards, doing overhand pull ups which is the hardest variation. If you can do even 1 start with the next slide. 2️⃣ Dead Hang - hold a dead hang for as long as possible to build grip strength and isometric lat strength if you can’t do pull ups. 3️⃣ Scapula pull ups - this is what you should be working on after the dead hangs, build enough scapula strength in order to initiate the pull up. 4️⃣ Slow Eccentric Pull ups - you can grab a chair to help you with the concentric rep (to get to the top position) and work on building eccentric (lowering) lat strength. 5️⃣ Banded Pull Ups - bands are a great tool to use on working the full range of motion of the pull up since you will be assisted by the bands at the most challenging point of the rep (the lower initiating part). 6️⃣ Chin UPS - overhand variation of the pull up is quite hard, Chun ups are easier so try them before you progress to pull ups. 7️⃣ Hammer curls - since when you do pull ups your biceps are doing a similar contraction to when you do hammer curls so strengthening the biceps can help. 8️⃣ Pullovers - great to isolate to learn how to use lats to pull and strengthen the lats. . This should be able to get you more pull ups especially if you can’t do any or much at the moment, use these progressions and regressions to aid you to get more proficient and stronger at pull ups.

Honestly ✨ I really never want to do pull-ups. Or chin-ups. I mean *actually* do them. They are hard. They are VERY energy intensive for me. They are exhausting. Every time before I go to do them I think “man I don’t want to do this.” But I do them anyway. Good exercise selection & pairings. Full body Paired Sets work well when they don’t negatively effect form and muscle recruitment. Squats & Chin Ups work nicely for that reason. Here I’ve gone from a Squat to a Neutral Grip Pull Up. Unfortunately, this pull up bar is low, which really limits my ability to start from a hollow position. But working with what I have available to me. Important, with the Quad emphasis (Spanish Squat), keep knees more straight, and to really get a good contraction, try pushing a little into the band as you come to standing. Last rep I hold for up to 5 seconds. The muscle contraction is intense so don’t chase numbers. #personaltrainer #spanishsquats #chinups
